of sparrows and eggs
sunday morning at easter camp was such an adventure for me. i got to go to one of the main meetings. oh clumsy aubergines. it was so very very noisy and there were so very many BIG SCARY people up the front near the stage and they were all dancing to very loud music. mummy said that the area near the stage was called the mosh pit and that it was a dangerous place for little owls to be. so i decided not to wander off because i didn't want to become moshed.
later on the main speaker was introduced and everyone sat down and it got quieter. the speaker talked for ever such a long time. i was so very disappointed because i thought the speaker might mention me. after all, i was the only owl at easter camp and i thought that that was something very special. but he didn't mention me. not even once.
he did however point out sebastian several times. sebastian was a sparrow who managed to sneak into the main meeting when no one was looking and he kept flying around and around. mummy said she thought he was looking for a way out but i think she was wrong. i think sebastian just wanted attention. at one point he even pooped on some people. if i could fly i could have got the speaker to notice me too. but I would never poop on anyone. that would be a very bad thing to do.
i thought that it would be sensible for me to give sebastian some lessons on good bird manners but he left as soon as the meeting had finished so I didn’t get the chance.
and then mummy took me back to the motel room and do you know what i found? i found a great big bowl of chocolate easter eggs on the table for me and msfs. oh squishy chocolate mice! i was so very happy and had been longing for chocolate easter eggs and then my happiness was completed.
in the afternoon msfs said we should have an easter egg hunt. he said he would hide all the blue eggs and i could hide all the pink ones and we would try to find each others. oh it was so much fun. and we decided we would save some of the eggs for breakfast the next day because that was a grown up thing to do and because eggs are a breakfast food and oh what a yummy breakfast it turned out to be.
and after the yummy breakfast we had to pack up all our things because it was the day we were going home. it took ages and ages to make sure i had everything. i hope that i didn’t leave anything behind.
then me and msfs had to spend the WHOLE DAY in the back of the car while mummy and daddy helped pack things up back at the camp. we didn’t get home until 9.30pm. i was so very pooped. i did have such a wonderful time but it was nice to get home and see leonardo, oxford and the others again.
there really is no place like home.
